NEW! Mineral Light Low-Intervention White Wine L’ÉCAILLER By Domaine La Guiptière Folle Blanche From Pays Nantais France
Ageing on the lees 6 month in the bottle 5 month before release The expression of the Gros Plant for sure! A mineral, iodised nose with hints of lime and fresh pear. Ideal with shellfish and crustaceans. Château la Guipière focuses on terroir-driven wines from the Pays Nantais, highlighting local varieties (Melon Blanc and Gros Plant) and sustainable vineyard practices. The estate combines historical identity, ecological commitment and modern, precise winemaking — producing fresh Atlantic whites with strong mineral character and ageing potential. S C H I S T E: A metamorphic rock, it is characterised by its flaky structure and very dark colour. Schist ensures good water drainage, avoiding stagnant humidity, stores heat during the day and releases it at night, helping the grapes to ripen. It gives the wines minerality, accentuating the saline notes, tension with acidity and structure. History & Location: Formerly known as La Guiptière, this locality dates back to the 15th century and was once a noble house and seigneury of Le Pallet. Located between Nantes and Cholet, Château la Guipière sits in the heart of the Pays Nantais, in the Vallet winegrowing area. The château was built in the 19th century. After several ownership changes and partial destruction in the 20th century, the estate has been gradually restored. Today it belongs to three long-time friends: Fabien Rycroft, Charles Jannin and Sylvain Gendry who share the ambition to produce wines with strong identity, faithful to terroir and respectful of the environment. Estate philosophy & biodiversity: Nestled among vineyards and fields, Château la Guipière is now a dynamic wine estate focused on environmentally respectful viticulture. *To counter vineyard monoculture, biodiversity is actively encouraged through: planting cereals and legumes between vine rows to improve soil health; *Installing hedges for beneficial insects; creating an orchard and apiary for pollination; *Placing nesting boxes to support bird life. Trees, ponds, fields and animals create a balanced ecosystem that supports vine health and grape quality.
